John Diacopoulos. Born in Sydney and a law graduate of Sydney University who has been in private practice throughout his 50 year career as a general practitioner. He has been on the board of several public companies and involved with “not for profit” organisations for the past 15 years; and is on the Custodian board of the Sydney Heritage Fleet and a Governor of the Fleet (also known as the Sydney Maritime Museum Limited). He is also a sailor having participated in several international events and is an active participant in classic yachting events on Sydney Harbour. He has been involved with the EnGeneIC Cancer Research Foundation since its inception.
A/Professor David Baines, AM, FANZCA, has been a specialist paediatric anaesthetist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Department Head from 2002 to 2016. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for several international journals, as well as a reviewer for grant applications for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. In January 2015 he was appointed a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to medicine in the field of paediatric anaesthesia as a clinician, administrator and mentor, and to medical education. David is particularly interested in fostering translational research in all fields of medicine but particularly for children.
Ian MacDiarmid is the Managing Director of MacDiarmid Sails, a Sydney-based sail-making operation with international connections in China, Europe and the US. He is a yachtsman of acknowledged international standing having competed in and won a number of World Championships in different international yacht classes. With a passion for sailing, he is on a board of the Custodian Company that owns all the vessels of Sydney Heritage Fleet, a museum on Sydney Harbour which celebrates Australia’s maritime history. Ian is also a committed supporter of the EnGeneIC Cancer Research Foundation and assists with his considerable connections to help with annual fund-raising.
